Shooting Yourself in the Foot......

As I drove around Southwest Arkansas the last couple of days I came to one conclusion, radio is committing suicide. Radio folks are blaming new technology for the downturn in radio. I blame RADIO!. Just listen. Stations are wanting to sound like each other AND the worst thing they are automated and NOT LIVE. Sure some stations voice track but it's to the point where the regular listener can tell it's canned. And what really sucks these days is the news the station personnel writes and puts on the air. Nearly every station's news sounded like minutes from a board meeting and what really is funny is when the news person reads a police report OR a news release word for word. So radio managers and owners remember technology is not killing your business, YOU'RE killing yourselves. Well time to sync the ipod and load it up. Happy trails!

FM101/RTN Goes Off Air

This from at tipster: FM101.1/RTN radio has been shut down by Equity Broadcasting. There has been nothing on the station for several weeks and I was able to confirm that the station was shut down and not just off the air temporarily with an Equity employee this weekend.

Equity never owned the station, only leased it.....
